FORM OF IMPERATIVE SENTENCE IN MINANGKABAU LANGUAGE, SUPAYANG VILLAGE, PAYUNG SEKAKI DISTRICT, SOLOK REGENCY

Abstract

Imperative sentence is sentence which contains command to others to do something
or sentence which used to get response based on speaker willingness. The problem on this
research is how to form of imperative sentence in Minangkabau language, Supayang
village, Payung Sekaki district, Solok regency. This research is aim to describe form of
imperative sentence in Minangkabau language Supayang village, Payung Sekaki district,
Solok regency. This research used Muchlis’ theory (2010). This research used descriptive
method. The data of this research are collected by using elicitation technique. The analysis
is conducted by applying distributional method including deletion technique, reserve
technique, and wide technique. The result of analysis shows that there are nine imperative
sentences found in Minangkabau language, Supayang village, Payung Sekaki district, Solok
Regency, they are (1) intransitive imperative sentence in verb, adjective, and prepositional
phrase categories; (2) active transitive imperative sentence which lost prefix man ‘men’ –
nya; (3) passive imperative sentence which passive verb; (4) polite imperative sentence used
toloang ‘tolong’ and co ‘coba’; (5) prohibitive imperative sentence used joan ‘jangan’ and
joangla ‘janganlah’; (6) imperative-declarative and imperative-interrogative sentence; (7)
request imperative used ntak ‘minta’ and tariakan ‘ambilkan’; (8) asking and hope
imperative sentence pek ‘ayo’, kaniak ‘mari’, and ncak ‘hendaknya’; and (9) permit
imperative sentence used pidian ‘biar’ and biananla ‘biarkanlah’.
