KOLABORASI MUSIK TRADISIONAL SHAMISEN DENGAN MUSIK MODEREN DI JEPANG

Abstract

Japan is a developed country who never left their culture. One of that culture is traditional
music instrument named Shamisen. The writer interested to analized the collaboration specially
shamisen. In the developing of music industry in Japan nowadays do not make a Japanese mucisian
to stop their action to converse their traditional music culture. View of them keep conversing their
traditional music culture with collaborating the modern music. This traditional genre had been
collaborating with modern music genre such as Pop, Rock and Jazz. The Shamisen usually used to
backsound instrument, but now shamisen is a instrument to representing Japan. There are so many
shamisenplayer who join in this converse the traditional music culture. Not only in Japan but also in
outside Japan.
This research is supposed to describe how the history of shamisen and how shamisen’s
development in this modern era and describe the function and the meaning of shamisen if shamisen
collaborated with modern music instrument and modern music genre.This research is a descriptive
research with qualitative approach. The source of this research is coming from written data with data
collection thecnique. The method of this analized research is descriptive research method with
classification thecnique and data analized. This research is supposed to describe how the
collaboration of shamisen with modern music and what effect will appeared of that collaboration.
Based on research’s result with written data inference and source’s quote is proved that if
shamisen collaborated with modern music instrument and modern music genre will create the new
music color without disappearing the characteristic of that shamisen.
