AN ANALYSIS OF SIMILE FOUND IN NOVELS FIVE HAVE A WONDERFUL TIME BY ENID BLYTON AND THE DA VINCI CODE BY DAN BROWN

Abstract

Figurative language is a language that carries meaning not only in the strict sense, but
also the meaning that is connotation. Thesis entitled “An Analysis of Simile found in
Novels Five Have a Wonderful Time by Enid Blyton and The Da Vinci Code by Dan
Brown” focused on what form of simile and compared of simile. In collecting the data,
the authors applied the method proposed by Sudaryanto (1993), the method of
observation with writing techniques. To analyze the data, the writer applied the method
proposed by Sudaryanto (1993), which is equivalent to the method of explaining the
truth. In displaying the data analysis, the writer applied the method introduced by
Sudaryanto (1993), the informal method, which displays the data according to its
original form. Connotative meaning is the theory that used in this simile thesis. Based
on research data that take from novel, the writer found that form of simile with
connective word like thirty-five (35) pieces of data and simile that use connective word
as eleven (11) pieces of data.
