MAKNA HOSHI DALAM DUA LIRIK LAGU KARYA FT ISLAND: KAJIAN HAKIKAT PUISI

Abstract

In this thesis, the writer analyzes the meaning of hoshi (star) in two song lyrics by FT
Island. The writer is interested in analyzing both song lyrics, because among the works of FT
Island, these are the only songs which are truly created by the FT Island’s personnel without any
help from other people, after being criticized by the fans. Both song lyrics have a similarity that
is containing the word hoshi in them. This study is a qualitative study, using descriptive method
with library research technique. In analyzing the meaning of hoshi from both song lyrics, the
writer analyses them through sense, feeling, tone and intention. In the first song lyric, Someday,
the meaning of hoshi is a famous star who loses his stardom. The meaning of hoshi in Dream Sky
is a person who wants to pursue and actualize his dream in order to be able to shine again and
being unbeatable. In conclusions the meaning of hoshi from both song lyrics as depicted from
sense, feeling, tone and intention is a famous star who loses his stardom, but he wants to shine
again.
