Politeness of Speech Action Criticize in Japan Drama My Boss My Hero

Abstract

In the research, writer analyzes the strategy of speech action politeness criticize in Japan drama My Boss My Hero as the source of research data. The method used in the research is descriptive method and theory used by writer to analyze the data is the theory of politeness according to Brown and Levinson 1987 and also connect the relevancy with the connection theory between speaker and speaker explained by Roger Brown and Albert Gilman including Scollon and Scollon. Based on the result of analysis, the writer classifies the strategy of speech action politeness criticize into four situations. First, power situation (-P) and solidarity (+S), second is power (+P) and solidarity (+S) situation, third is situation of power (=P) and solidarity (+S) and fourth is situation of power (=P) and solidarity (-S). The strategy which often appears in the (-P) (+S) situation is strategy of politeness of speech action criticize indirectly, (+P) (+S) situation is the strategy of politeness of speech action criticize by using strategy of negative politeness, (=P) (+S) situation is the strategy of politeness of speech action criticize directly without courteousness, and (=P) (-S) situation is strategy of politeness of speech action criticize by using the strategy of negative and positive politeness.
