Abstract

The writer analyzed a novel entitled Koin Rokkaa Beibiizu (Coin Locker Babies) by Murakami Ryu. The writer used behavioral theory by Skinner because the responses of the two main characters (Hashi and Kiku) are the effect of the stimulus from the environment. The method used is descriptive method. There are three environmental stimulus that affected the main characters; the physical environment, biological environment, and social environment. Based on the result of the research, it can be concluded that each of Hashi’s and Kiku’s environmental stimulus generate particular responses. The responses that emerged from Hashi and Kiku are dominantly negative. The negative responses came from all stimulus except stimulus in the form of social environment. The social environment generates a positive response.
