FUROSHIKI DEWASA INI
Abstract
Furoshiki is a rectangular fabric that can be used to wrap the items traditionally. In use Furoshiki basically formerly used as a wrapping clothes on when going to public bath shower by the Japanese people and the nobility. The problem in this thesis is how the furoshiki development today, the use of furoshiki in Japan today. And the method used was descriptive, using the theories of culture and art to analyze the data. Based on the research results through the conclusion of the written data sources, especially those related to adult furoshiki, demonstrating over the times furoshiki used instead of tote bags, briefcases, backpacks and even as a blanket for the baby. In addition to not eliminate its function as a wrapper, furoshiki is also used as a wrap and decorate flower pots, baskets and wrapping as well as replacement of accessories in the neck and head. In furoshiki fabric motifs and colors are strong cultural values and has elements of a sense of tranquility, blessing, gratitude, joy, peace, health and fidelity. In this case also helps the Japanese government program to reduce the use of plastic bags are required to carry a shopping bag when you want to buy into the store, supermarket or to the market. Furoshiki this development and change, including the birth of some of the motifs, colors, how to use, but does not eliminate the inherent meaning of each motif as a bearer of happiness and blessing.Keywords: furoshiki, development , use of now a days
