Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe conflicts of the main character as seen in
the Princess by Jean P. The writer used structuralism theory to find relationships and
connections among intrinsic elements in literary work, such as the relationship between
characters, settings, and plot, in this research. This research was done by doing close reading
technique. Based on the result of the research, the writer found Sultana has external conflicts
and internal conflicts that were influenced by his traits and his cultural background.
Key words : character, setting, plot, and conflicts.
