SADNESS AND LOVE OF TWO CHARACTERS IN THE NOVEL KAZE MACHI NO HITO WRITTEN BY IBUKI YUKI

Abstract

This research is about sadness and love experience of two characters by the beginning to the end of story in a novel named Kaze Machi no Hito written by Ibuki Yuki. Sadness and love are parts of classification of emotions. Krech assumed that, classifications of emotions are divided by 7, there are guilt, buried guilt, self punishing, shame, sadness, hate and love. The method usage is descriptive method. The result of the research shows that Tetsuji experienced 6 of 7 classification of emotions. While Kimiko experienced 5 of 7 classifications of emotions. Both caracters experienced sadness and from losing someone whom they love which results in guilt and unhappy. Sadness is divided into 3 categories, chronic grief followed by self blame, inhibited grief and delayed grief. From 3 sadness categories, the sadness that often be experienced by Tetsuji is inhibited grief. Sadness that often be experienced by Kimiko is chronic grief followed by self blame. Both character experienced love the feel wanting to live life together. Love divide by 2, that is the intencity of the experience from the softest to the most profound, and the degree of tension from the most calm to the surge of rough and provocative lust. Love that Tetsuji experienced to the point of the surge of rough lust. While love that Kimiko experienced just only up to the must calm. Because of the connection of the sadness and love in both of character, causing both character help each other to heal.
