FIELD MEANINGS OF CUSTOM WEDDING PROCESSION TOOLS FROM TIGO NINI DATUAK SINARO IN GUNUNG MEDAN

Abstract

Field meanings of wedding procession tools from Tigo Nini Datuak Sinaro tribe in Gunung Medan is a way of custom wedding procession which use traditional tools that in accordance with Gunung Medan regional custom. The purpose of this research is to describe the significance in each of the form, function, and components of the wedding procession tools from Tigo Nini Datuak Sinaro tribe which based in Gunung Medan. To analyze their significance, the writer uses the theory from Chaer. Descriptive method is used as the analysis method. The method used to collect the data is interview method. To get results, the writer uses Padan method which requires the writer to interpret the unspoken field meaning based from the referred data. Based on the analyzed data, the writer finds 3 stages of the tools used in wedding procession. They are; (1) prewedding, in which 15 tools have been found which marked with Siyiah Tanyo, Maantau siyiah siang, and Duduak Niniak Mamak
Godang. The second one is (2) wedding, in which 30 kinds of tools marked with
Maantau Marapulai, Duduak nan Tuo, Arak-arakan Induak Bako, and Manutuik
Oleh Gadang. And the third one is (3) post wedding, in which 1 tool has been found and also marked with Manjalang Mamak. Keywords: Field meaning, custom wedding procession tools, Tigo Nini Datuak
