Development of Social Studies Learning Module with the Theme of My 5 Heroes Based on Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) for fourth grade students of SD

Abstrak

Social science is one of the main subjects in elementary schools, as for the notion of IPS according to Susanto (2014: 143) "Social studies education in elementary schools is a field of study that studies humans in all aspects of life and their interactions in society." Teachers do not have modules social studies learning, even though the teacher already has a teacher theme book and student theme book, but the motivation and student learning outcomes in the social studies subject have not looked good, because the social studies material in the theme book is a little so that the material presented is not effective. And teachers have not used variations in learning models that make students think more creatively and actively in the learning process. The social studies material in the theme book is not in accordance with basic competencies 3.4 and 4.4, the basic competencies of the requested learning material are based on the local environment, but the material in the theme book presented is based on Indonesian territory, where the material does not explain the student's local environment, namely West Sumatra, The type of research used is research and development or Research and Development (R&D). This model consists of 4 development stages, namely: the define stage, the planning stage, the develop stage and the dissemination stage. In this research, the research went through to the development stage (develov) because of the limited capabilities, time and costs. The research instrument included a validation sheet and a practicality questionnaire. The social studies learning module is validated by 3 lecturers, and tested on 1 teacher and 5 students. The results showed that "the Social Studies learning module based on Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) on the subject matter of 5 My Heroes for fourth grade students of SD" fulfilled very valid criteria with an average percentage of 91% validity. The modules that have been developed are declared practical with an average percentage of 81% practicality by educators and very practical with an average percentage of 90% by students. From these data it can be concluded that the "Social Studies learning module based on Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) on the subject matter of 5 my heroes for grade IV SD students" fulfills the valid and practical criteria, so it can be used in learning in grade IV SD.
