Abstrak

Learning barriers are events that cause students to be hampered in the learning process due to internal factors and external factors. This study aims to determine the relationship between the barriers to the teaching and learning process of biology (internal and external factors) with the learning outcomes of biology students in class XI MIPA at SMA Negeri 15 Padang and to analyze the barriers to the teaching and learning process of students. The sampling technique was simple random sampling with a sample size of 123 students of class XI MIPA. Data collection techniques using a questionnaire. The results showed that the barriers to internal factors that affect learning biology, namely body defects have an average of 3.44, attention has an average of 3.41, and motives have an average of 3.06 with a very high interpretation. On the external factors that affect learning biology, namely the way parents educate have an average of 3.15, family economic conditions have an average of 3.38, teaching methods have an average of 3.03, teachers and students have an average of 3. .15 and student by student had a mean of 3.09 with a very high interpretation. On the internal factor barriers based on gender the average value of male respondents is higher than female respondents, male respondents have an average of 2.95 with a high interpretation while the female respondents have 2.99 with a high interpretation and on external factor barriers based on gender the average value of male respondents is higher than female respondents, male respondents have an average of 2.83 with a high interpretation while the female respondents have 2.90 with a high interpretation. The results of this study indicate that the value of the correlation coefficient between barriers to teaching and learning process and learning outcomes is 0.214, which has a low correlation with the relationship between barriers to teaching and learning, showing positive and significant results with biology learning outcomes. The research data can be concluded that there is a positive relationship between internal factors and learning outcomes and there is also a positive relationship between external factors and learning outcomes at SMA Negeri 15 Padang.
