Development of Social Studies Learning Module Based on Mind Mapping Model for class IV Elementary School

Abstrak

Social Studies as an eduacational program which is a whole which basically questions humans in the physical natural environment and the material is taken from various social sciences, such as geography, history, economics, and psychology. In shool learning, learning is still centered on the teacher using the lecture method, the use of books and worksheets is not optimal because at the time of learning activities students are still confused in doing the question in accordance with the steps presented in books and worksheets, lack of student interest in the use of worksheets due to the lack of coloring and pictures related to the material, the guidebooks used are less attactive to students and make students feel bored and uninspired to take part in learning, the school and teachers have not provided social studies learning modules based on mind mapping models, but using only teacher and student manuals. Therefore, the researher conducted a development research entitled “Developmen of Social Learning Module Based on Mind Mapping Model for Grade IV Elementary School” The type of research contucted is Research and Development (R&D) research using a 4-D development model, namely, Define, Design, Develop and Disseminate. However, due to time constraints, this research only reached the Development stage. The subjects of the social studies learning module trial were the fourth grade students of SD Negeri 16 Nan Sabaris, totaling 10 students. At the validation stage, the module that has been designed, followed by Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University Teacher Training and education, Bung hatta University. The practicality stage is carried out after the module is validated and feasible to be tested with the aim of knowing the level of practicality of the learning module that been made. Based on the resuls of research on the development of social studies learning modules based on the mind mapping model, the overall validity average is 83,01% with valid criteria, while the average practicality by teavhers and students is an overall overall average of 95,37% with very practical criteria. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that the social studies learning module based on the Mind mapping model is valid and practical to use in social studies learning, so it can be used as one of the teaching materials in grade IV SD.
