Abstrak

Teaching Mathematics aims to give students the ability to understand mathematical concepts, solve problems, communicate ideas and the usefulness of mathematics to be appreciated in everyday life. In Mathematics learning activities in elementary schools, it is necessary to use interesting learning modules and be able to increase students' interest in learning. Mathematics is one of the main subjects in the education curriculum in Indonesia, including at the elementary school level. Students are not brave enough to have an opinion or ask questions to the teacher. The 2013 curriculum teaching materials used are only textbooks and student books as a guide in learning mathematics, therefore, during the learning process in class students tend to give short answers to questions asked by the teacher and there are still many students who are passive during learning even though the teacher has provided provoking questions that can encourage students to think critically. So that in the learning process students are not active and less able to develop their thinking skills and learning becomes passive. The researcher conducted a development research with the title "Development of Contextual Teaching and Learning-Based Mathematical Modules on the Material of Building Characteristics for Class V SD Negeri 07 Simawang". The type of research conducted is Research and Development (R&D) research using a 4D development model, namely Define, Design, Development and Disseminate. However, in this research, it only reached the Develop stage. The subjects of this learning module trial were fifth grade students at SD Negeri 07 Simawang, Tanah Datar Regency. The instrument in this study used a validity and practicality sheet. At the validation stage, the module that has been designed is continued with validation activities by a validator consisting of 3 expert lecturers, namely material experts, linguists, and design experts. The practicality stage is carried out after the module has been validated and is feasible to be tested with the aim of knowing the level of practicality of the learning module. Based on the results of research on the development of mathematics learning modules based on Contextual Teaching and Learning with an overall validity average of 93.16% with a very valid category, while the average practicality by teachers is 90% with a very practical category and obtaining practical results by students with an overall average of 89.314% in the practical category. From the results of the study, it can be concluded that the Contextual Teaching and Learning-based mathematics learning module is very valid and very practical to use in learning mathematics so that it can be used as one of the teaching materials in learning in class V SDN 07 Simawang, Tanah Datar Regency.
