Learning to read in elementary school is one part of learning Indonesian. Indonesian language learning consists of four skill-based aspects, namely: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. These four aspects of language skills are the focus of Indonesian language learning objectives. In this regard (Ritawati, 2012: 63) says that these four aspects of skills are presented in an integrated manner. Reading is one of the means to acquire and develop knowledge. This attentive reading activity can be developed and practiced with “speed reading†activities. reading abilities and skills, especially “speed readingâ€, greatly affect learning outcomes. Students who have low reading skills will also get low learning outcomes. Where found problems that hinder the students' speed reading process. The problems that appear include: students read with a loud voice, the habit of pointing at reading texts with their hands or writing instruments, and the habit of reading by moving their heads. The quantum reading method is a reading method that can solve students' problems in reading activities, especially to improve reading skills, in addition, De Porter (2005: 245) states that "quantum reading also provides encouragement to foster student interest in reading. The quantum reading approach can be used as a solution to the problem of low student learning outcomes, especially in reading skills because this method requires students to be active readers, reading ideas not words, involving all senses, creating interest and making mind maps of what is happening. which he reads. This type of research is classroom action research (CAR) using a quantum reading approach. The research subjects were the fifth grade students of SDN 01 pauh kurai taji, totaling 28 people. The research instrument was in the form of observation sheets for teacher and student activities. From the implementation of this research, it can be concluded that the use of the quantum reading approach can improve speed reading learning outcomes because with this approach students are required to be actively involved in the learning process, thus the use of the quantum reading approach student learning outcomes increase from cycle I 126.1 words/minute to 145.5 words/minute in cycle II, and 172.07 words/minute in cycle III. students' affective learning outcomes from 54% in the first cycle increased to 77.27% in the second cycle, and 81.81% in the third cycle. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the increase in speed reading results for fifth grade students from cycle I to cycle II, and III. The increase in speed reading results in the cognitive and affective domains is caused by using a quantum reading approach.Referensi
