Abstrak

INCREASING STUDENT MATHEMATICS LEARNING OUTCOMES THROUGH A REALISTIC MATHEMATICS EDUCATION APPROACH IN CLASS III UPT SDN 08 KOTO BERAPAK PESISIR SELATAN DISTRICT Egalian Pebriana1, Arlina Yuza1 1 Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program Faculty of Teacher Training and Education Bung Hatta University Email : egalianpebriana01@gmail.com ABSTRACT This research is motivated by the low student learning outcomes, because the teacher has not used a suitable learning approach in the learning process. The purpose of this study was to improve student learning outcomes in learning mathematics through a Realistic Mathematics Education approach in class III UPT SDN 08 Koto Berak. This type of research is Classroom Action Research. This research was conducted in two cycles, each cycle consisting of two meetings, each meeting ended with a final cycle test. The subjects of this study were class III UPT SDN 08 Koto Berak District of Pesisir Selatan who were enrolled in the even semester of the 2022/2023 academic year. The instruments in this study were teacher activity observation sheets and learning achievement test sheets. The results of the study show that the use of the RME approach can improve students' mathematics learning outcomes. This increase can be seen from the percentage of initial data learning outcomes which is 30% then carried out in cycle I increased to 50% and carried out in cycle II increased to 80%. The percentage of observations of teacher activity in the first cycle was 73.21 and in the second cycle was 89.28. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that the RME approach can improve students' mathematics learning outcomes in class III UPT SDN 08 Koto Berak. For this reason, it is recommended to use the RME approach to mathematics subject matter to improve student learning outcomes.
