According to Istarani (2011: 1), the learning model is a whole series of presentation of teaching material which includes all aspects before, while and after the teacher's learning and all related facilities that are used directly or indirectly in the teaching and learning process. Meanwhile, Hosnan (2014: 181) states that the learning model is a conceptual framework that describes a systematic procedure for organizing learning experiences to achieve certain learning goals, and serves as a guide for learning designers and teachers in planning and implementing strategies and activities of learning principles. or the learning paradigm from the old pattern shifts to a new pattern. In line with that Ngalimun (2014: 27) states that the learning model is a plan or pattern that can be used to design face-to-face teaching patterns in the classroom and to determine learning materials/devices including books, media (films). ), types, computer media programs and curricula. The learning model is expected to assist teachers in conveying learning material so that it can increase students' learning motivation in understanding learning and can increase students' enthusiasm in learning. One model that can be used is the picture and picture learning model which is able to assist teachers in associating learning concepts with real situations of students. However, in the learning process several facts were found in the implementation of learning at school, the facts were found as 1) Some students were lazy to study 2) Students tended to speak more in the learning process 3) Teachers were less creative in using interesting learning models that could trigger students' enthusiasm in learning 4) The low ability of students in reading comprehension. Therefore, the researchers conducted a study entitled "Improving the Reading Ability of Class II Students Through the Picture and Picture Learning Model at SDN 040/Xl in Koto Limau Manis Village, Sungaipuh City, Jambi" Based on the research results, it was found that the average percentage of students understanding the contents of fairy tales in the first cycle was 62.00%, while in the second cycle it was 81.50%. The average result of the first cycle learning test was 72.8% and the second cycle was 86.00%. From the results of the study, it can be concluded that learning Indonesian through the picture and picture learning model can improve the ability to understand second grade students at SDN 040/XI in Koto Limau Manis Village, Sungaipuh City, Jambi.##submission.additionalFiles##
