According to Rusman (2011: 133) Model is a general pattern of learning behavior to achieve the expected learning objectives. The learning model is a plan or pattern that can be used to shape the curriculum (long-term learning plans), design learning materials and guide learning in class or others (Joyce & Weil, 1980: 4) Learning models can be used as a pattern of choice, meaning that teachers are allowed to choose appropriate and efficient learning models to achieve their educational goals. The learning model is expected to assist teachers in conveying learning material so that it can increase students' learning motivation in learning, can improve students' ability to understand problems and can increase students' enthusiasm in learning. One of the learning models that can be used is the Realistic Matthematic Education learning model which is able to assist teachers in associating learning concepts with real situations of students. However, in the learning process several facts were found in the implementation of learning in schools, the facts were found as: 1) students' problem-solving abilities in learning mathematics in solving story questions given by the teacher, 2) students' interest in learning mathematics was lacking, 3) students looked passive when the teacher explains learning, 4) related to some of these problems, this research focuses on students' lack of understanding of problem solving in mathematics learning geometry material, 5) the teacher's efforts to improve problem solving abilities, namely the teacher uses the lecture method so that students can solve problems. Therefore, researchers conducted a study entitled "Improving Students' Problem Solving Ability in Geometry Learning Through the Application of Realistic Mathematics Education Models in Class V SDN 040/XI in Koto Limau Manis Village, Sungai Lilin City". The type of research conducted was classroom action research, the research subjects were 20 students in class V at SDN 040/XI in Koto Limau Manis Village, Sungai Lilin City. Based on the results of the study, it was obtained that the results of the completeness of the problem solving abilities of students in cycle I were as much as 65%, while the data on the results of the completeness of the problem solving abilities of students in cycle II were as much as 85% in the sufficient and good category. From the results of the study it can be concluded that the application of the Realistic Mathematical Education learning model in mathematics subjects can improve the problem-solving abilities of fifth grade students at SDN 040/XI Koto Limau Manis, Sungai Full City.##submission.additionalFiles##
