Abstrak

The background of this research is the lack of skills in writing descriptive essays for students in class IV SDN 42/III Sungai Lebuh, Siulak District, Kerinci Regency. The purpose of this study was to describe the increase in students' descriptive essay writing skills in learning Indonesian using the picture and picture model for class IV at SDN 42/III Sungai Lebuh, Siulak District, Kerinci Regency. In this study the theory used as a reference is, namely (1) writing put forward by Dalman (2016: 2) states that as a language skill, writing is a complex activity, because writers are required to be able to compose and organize written content and put it in a variety of languages. write, (2) write a description put forward by Afnita (2019:145) stating that a descriptive essay is an essay that describes or depicts an object, object, or nature. This paragraph provides an overview of objects or objects through the five senses, described through words based on spatial and material aspects. Picture and picture model theory (1) theory put forward by Shoimin (2016: 122) states that picture and picture is a learning model using pictures and paired or sorted into a logical sequence, (2) theory put forward by Suprijono (2009: 125) states that picture and picture is one of the learning strategies that use pictures as learning media. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (CAR). Arikunto (2020: 2) states that classroom action research is a research activity carried out in the classroom because there are three phases that form the meaning that must be explained, namely research, action, and class. This research was conducted in two cycles, each cycle consisting of two meetings. The subjects of this study were 14 grade IV students at SDN 42/III Sungai Lebuh, Siulak District, Kerinci Regency. The research instruments used were teacher activity observation sheets, student activity observation sheets, and student writing skills assessment sheets. The percentage of teacher activity obtained in cycle I, namely 80 and increased in cycle II with the percentage obtained 93. The average observation of student activities in cycle I, namely 56 and increased in cycle II with an average of 75. Completeness of learning outcomes writing skills The percentage of students in cycle I was 50% with an average learning outcome of 67, increasing to 79% in cycle II with an average learning outcome of 78. This means that learning Indonesian using the picture and picture model can improve students' writing skills in class descriptions. IV SDN 42/III Sungai Lebuh, Siulak District, Kerinci Regency. Thus, it was concluded that the picture and picture learning model can be used to improve students' descriptive essay writing skills.
