Abstrak

PENINGKATAN KEMAMPUAN MEMBACA PERMULAAN MODEL DIRECT INSTRUCTION BERBASIS MEDIA TUBOKAS PADA SISWA KELAS 1 SDN 38 SEB.TAROK KABUPATEN PESISIR SELATAN Meri Irmayani 1, Rio Rinaldi 2 1Program Studi Pendidikan Guru Sekolah Dasar 2 Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan Universitas BungHatta Corresponding Author : meriirmayani4@gmail.com ABSTRACT This research is motivated by the phenomenon and the results of observations and interviews with the author about the low beginning reading ability of students and teachers who have not used the Tubokas media-based Direct Instruction model in learning to read at the beginning of grade 1 SDN 38 Seberang Tarok, Pesisir Selatan District. This study aims to describe the process of improving early reading skills using the Direct Instruction model based on the Tumbokas media for first grade students at SDN 38 Seberang Tarok, Pesisir Selatan District and the results of improving early reading skills using the Direct Instruction model based on the Tumbokas media for students at SDN 38 Seberang Tarok , South Coastal District. This type of research uses classroom action (CAR), namely scientific activities carried out by teachers in their own class by compiling, implementing, observing, and reflecting on actions through collaborative and participatory cycles that aim to improve or increase the quality of the learning process. in their class. The research subjects were 16 grade 1 students. Data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, tests and documentation. This study uses quantitative descriptive data analysis. This research was conducted using 2 cycles with 4 meetings in one cycle 2 meetings. Analysis of student learning outcomes, in the pre-cycle there were 5 students who completed with a percentage of 31% and students who had not completed 11 students with a percentage of 69%. Cycle 1 experienced an increase with the number of students who completed as many as 10 students with a percentage of 65% and students who did not complete 6 students with a percentage of 35%. Student learning outcomes in cycle II experienced an increase with the number of students who completed 12 with a percentage of 75% and the number of students who did not complete 4 students with a percentage of 25%. It can be concluded that the application of the Tubokas media-based Direct Instruction model can improve beginner reading skills. Keywords: Early Reading, Direct Instruction Model, Tubokas.
