Improving Students' Writing Ability Using the Class II Drill (Practice) Method at SDN 08 Surau Gadang, Nanggalo Padang District

IMPROVING STUDENT WRITING ABILITY USING CLASS II DRILL METHOD AT SDN 08 SURAU GADANG, NANGGALO PADANG Puti Nuraini Rahmadya1, Hidayati Azkiya1, 1Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program Faculty of Teacher Training and Education Bung Hatta University Email : putti1639@gmail.com ABSTRACT This research was motivated by the lack of students' writing ability in class IIA SDN 08 Surau Gadang which was caused during the learning process the teacher tended to use the lecture and question and answer method in class, so students were less interested in learning Indonesian. Learning outcomes in Indonesian subjects are still relatively low. The purpose of this research is to improve students' writing ability. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (CAR). This research was conducted in two cycles, each cycle consisting of two meetings and a final test. The subjects of this study were 25 students of class IIA SDN 08 Surau Gadang. The research instruments used were teacher activity sheets, student assessment sheets, and end-of-cycle test sheets. The percentage of teacher activity sheets in cycle I obtained results of 75% with good criteria and cycle II of 84% with very good criteria. The percentage of student activity sheets in cycle I was 53.6% with quite active criteria and increased in cycle II by 74% with active criteria. The percentage of student learning outcomes in the first cycle was 66.14% and in the second cycle 77.38%. From the research results it can be concluded that the Drill method can improve students' writing skills. Keywords: Learning, Writing Ability, Drill MethodReferensi
