Abstrak

Education is a learning process in the form of teaching and learning activities, where interactions occur between students and teachers. In the field of education the teacher acts as an educator who guides students to be able to develop knowledge and can change the condition of students from those who do not know to know (Sari, 2017). The research was motivated by the low results of students' science learning in working on HOTS questions. Factors that cause low student learning outcomes are because in the learning process the teacher provides material and reads the lesson text, while students are asked to listen and take notes, thus making students just as listeners in class. The purpose of this study was to improve the science learning outcomes of fifth grade students using the HOTS-Oriented Problem Based Learning model at SDN 114/III, Dusun Baru Siulak, Kerinci Regency. The type of research to be conducted is Classroom Action Research. According to Arikunto (2006:3) Classroom Action Research is an examination of learning activities in the form of an action that is deliberately raised and occurs in a class together. These actions are given by the teacher or with directions from the teacher carried out by students. Based on the results of the research, it was obtained that the science learning outcomes of students in cycle I with an average of 55.35 with a percentage of completeness of 50% increased in cycle II with an average of 77.14 with a percentage of completeness of 78.57% and it can be seen from the increase in teacher completeness from cycle I to cycle II, in cycle I you can see an average of 76 and experienced an increase in cycle II 95. It can be concluded that using the Hots Oriented Problem Based Learning model can improve science learning outcomes for fifth grade students of SDN 114/III in Baru Siulak Hamlet, Kerinci Regency and it is suggested that using the Problem Based Learning model learning is expected to increase student learning outcomes, and can make mistakes a variety of alternative learning models that make students more active and motivated to learn.
