The independent curriculum is a curriculum with a variety of intracurricular learning where the content will be optimal so that students have enough time to explore concepts and strengthen competence. The independent curriculum gives teachers the flexibility to choose teaching tools so that learning can be adapted to the needs and interests of students in class. The independent curriculum has a project to strengthen the achievement of Pancasila student profiles which are developed based on certain themes set by the government. The project to be achieved is not directed to achieve certain learning targets, so it is not related to any subject. However, this curriculum still cannot be used optimally by teachers. This results in a lack of motivation for students to learn, children play, children walk while studying. So this affects the activity and student learning outcomes. Yayuk (2019: 2) says that learning mathematics is a process of learning the experiences of students through a series of planned activities so that students gain competence in the mathematics material being studied. Learning in question is a teacher's activity to provide students with learning experiences so that later a good and enjoyable learning atmosphere is created for students through a guided model. So the researchers provide one solution by using the problem based learning (PBL) model. problem based learning (PBL) is a learning model that requires students to solve problems practically. The problem based learning model (PBL) is a learning model that is linked to problems around students and student-centered learning. The type of research used is classroom action research (CAR). Deliberate action is raised in the learning process and is based on efforts to improve the learning process. Parnawi (2020: 2) says that the term PTK is also known as Classroom Action Research. PTK is part of action research (action research). Based on activity data answering questions in cycle I obtained 35.71% and increased in cycle II to 50% from the indicator set at 50%. The activity of submitting opinions in cycle I obtained 42.85% and in cycle II it increased to 60.71% from the indicator set at 60%. Group discussion activity in cycle I obtained 33.92% and in cycle II it increased to 50% from the indicator set at 50%. Student learning outcomes test in cycle I obtained 42.86% and increased to 64.28% from the indicator set at 60%. Based on the results of the research that has been done, the researcher can conclude that the application of the problem based learning (PBL) model can increase the activity and learning outcomes of fourth grade students at SDN 05 Sawahan Padang.
