Abstrak

The background of this research is the lack of skills in writing a summary of the contents of students' stories in class V SD Negeri 09 Gunung Tuleh, West Pasaman Regency, which is caused during the learning process, the teacher does not motivate students so that students are less interested in writing. The purpose of this study was to describe the process of increasing the skills of writing a summary of the contents of the story on print media through the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model and to describe the extent to which the learning outcomes of writing a summary of the contents of the story on print media increased through the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model in fifth grade students at SD Negeri 09 Gunung Tuleh, West Pasaman Regency. The theory used in the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model was put forward by Shoimin (2016). This type of research is Classroom Action Research (CAR). This research was conducted in two cycles, each cycle consisting of two meetings and a final test. The subjects of this study were 26 students of class V SD Negeri 09 Gunung Tuleh, West Pasaman Regency. The research instruments used were student writing skills assessment sheets, student activity sheets, and teacher activity sheets. The completeness of students' writing skills learning outcomes in cycles I and II, obtained the percentage of students' summary writing skills in cycle I of 34.61% with an average learning outcome of 68 where researchers have not implemented learning optimally and have not achieved indicators of success, and increased in cycle II is 77% with an average learning result of 79.23 where students experience changes in the way of learning by using the PBL model students can demonstrate their ability to write summaries. From the results of the study it can be concluded that learning Indonesian in making summaries using the PBL model can improve the summary writing skills of fifth grade students at SD Negeri 09 Gunung Tuleh, West Pasaman Regency.
