Abstrak

Education is one of the basic needs and must be obtained by every human being. Thus, education is one of the most important needs for a person, because with a good education a person can determine their future. According to Brubacher (in Shofia, 2022:1) education is a process of developing human potential, abilities and capacities that are easily influenced by habits Learning mathematics in elementary schools refers to a curriculum that emphasizes that learning mathematics must emphasize mastery of competencies obtained through a series of scientific processes. The purpose of learning mathematics in elementary school is that students must be able to solve problems systematically. The problems solved by elementary school students are related to real life and so that students can have good systematic abilities to be able to solve problems in everyday life. Sagala (2008: 61), defines mathematics learning as teaching students using educational principles and learning theories as the main determinants of educational success. Learning is a communication process, communication between teachers and students or vice versa, and students to students. Meanwhile, according to Ahmad Fauzan & Yerizon (2013: 8) mathematics learning is students being able to understand concepts and apply mathematical procedures in everyday life. The material on recognizing plane shapes is one of the materials in mathematics learning in elementary schools. The material on recognizing plane shapes is very useful in everyday life, because problems in everyday life can also be solved by applying the material on recognizing plane shapes. For example, in recognizing the shape of plane shapes. Therefore, numeracy skills in the material on recognizing plane shapes must be mastered by children since grade III. This will be a provision for them to learn to recognize plane shapes in the next higher class. However, in reality there are still many students who experience difficulties or mistakes in learning to recognize plane shapes, especially those in the form of descriptive questions. Therefore, it is important to apply a learning model so that students' numeracy skills increase in learning and students can solve math problems to explain and find the right solution. The type of research used by researchers is experimental research with a quantitative approach. Experimental research is a research activity to control, manipulate and observe research subjects. The experimental design used in this study is a quasi-experimental design. According to Lufri (2005:60) experimental research is research that conducts treatment (minapulation) on research variables (independent variables). In this study, two groups were used, namely the control class and the experimental class. In the experimental class, treatment was given in the form of a Project Based Learning learning model, while in the control class, a Conventional learning model was used. The results of the study can be concluded that the average value of the experimental class using the Project Based Learning learning model was 86.07. while the average value of the control class without using the Project Based Learning learning model was 82.58. Hypothesis testing using the t-test with a significance level of 0.05 shows that the results of the hypothesis test obtained 3.84 Because the significance value of 3.84> 1.67, it can be concluded that there is a significant difference or there is an influence of the use of the Project Based Learning learning model on the numeracy skills of grade III students of SD Islam Khaira Ummah. Thus, H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected. Based on this, it shows that there is an influence of the Project Based Learning learning model on the numeracy skills of grade III students of SD Islam Khaira Ummah
