Abstrak

In Elementary School Education there are several learning contents that are studied by students. In the independent curriculum, IPA and IPS do not stand alone but are combined into Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS). In line with the opinion of Viqri et al (2024) IPA and IPS are now combined in one subject known as IPAS for elementary school level. Given that students at this level are at a simple, concrete, and comprehensive stage of thinking, they are able to see the world holistically and comprehensively. For an educator, it is important to develop the activeness of students in the learning process, this is related to how educators teach learning whether it makes students interested in the learning presented by the educator or even students are not interested in their learning. Problem based learning or problem-based learning is a learning model that accustoms students to solve problems and reflect on their experiences based on their previous knowledge, so that it is possible to develop thinking skills in solving meaningful, relevant and contextual problems. According to Siswanti & Indrajit (2022) Problem Based Learning is a learning model in which students are given complex everyday problems and do not have one correct answer. Realia media are real objects that are used as tools, materials and learning resources. Realia media are very valuable because they give children maximum opportunities to learn and carry out real tasks or situations. According to Amelia, Nurlina & Nur (2023) In addition, realia media has the advantage of changing abstract ideas or ideas into more concrete and easy to understand. Realia media is also suitable for application in science learning. The type of research used is an experimental research type, namely Quasi Experiment Design. According to Sugiyono (2017) Quasi Experimental Design is a design that has a control group, but cannot fully control external variables that affect the implementation of the experiment. Quasi experimental design is used because in reality it is difficult to get a control group used for research. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that the Problem Based Learning learning model assisted by Realia media is better than the conventional learning method. This can be seen from the average value of the experimental class being higher than the average value of the control class. The experimental class has an average of 80.92 with the highest value of 100 and the lowest value of 45. For the control class, it has an average of 71.48 with the highest value of 95 and the lowest value of 50 obtained by students. This can also be seen in the hypothesis test, from the results of the analysis obtained Tcount = 2.64 and Ttable = 1.67 where Tcount> Ttable means 2.64> 1.67. This means that the hypothesis in this study H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. After the hypothesis test was conducted, differences were obtained in the application of the Problem Based Learning learning model assisted by realia media with conventional learning on learning outcomes in the subject of science for grade IV students at SD Islam Khaira Ummah Padang.
