Abstract

Liberty Shoes Company is a manufacturing company engaged in the production of leather shoes. Based on preliminary observations, the production process does not yet have workmanship standards which causes the product to have less than optimal quality. From the Liberty production data in the January-December 2019 period, the largest percentage of defects was in September, which was 11.82%. With the high level of damage, it is necessary to do further research using the Six Sigma method with the DMAIC concept. The purpose of the Six Sigma method is to minimize defective products found and provide suggestions for minimizing product defects. Meanwhile, the search for the root causes of defective products is using a fishbone diagram. To find out the cause of the biggest problem in defective products using FMEA, it is found that the root of the problem is the same wind pressure is applied to all types of shoes, the pressing time is not fixed, and the quality of the material is low. Based on the root cause of the problem, the proposed improvement is in the form of work instructions for each problem.
