Abstract

CV. Sakura Kaca is a manufacturing company that produces storefronts. In the production process in the company, waste is encountered during production due to inefficient or no value added activities. Research was conducted to identify waste, identify root causes of problems and provide suggestions for improvements. Value stream mapping is a tool used to identify processes, waste and isolated processes to improve the type of process performance. From waste, the root cause of waste is carried out with a fishbone diagram. Identification results found wasteful while waiting. This waste occurs in the process of assembling aluminum into a frame which takes a lot of time, namely 85.89 minutes. This time exceeds the available operating time of only 70 minutes. The fishbone diagram shows that the root cause of the problem is the operator working alone, the fracture of the drill bit while working, the production area is not neatly organized and the skill level of the workers is different. Proposed improvements to reduce waste in the storefront production process are to add workers / operators to the frame assembly process, carry out maintenance activities, periodically maintenance machines, apply 5S principles and provide training to operators.
