Abstract

CV Jogja Konveksi is a company engaged in screen printing. The main production produced is t-shirt screen printing. This company has a make to order production system with a production target of approximately 1000 pcs each month. Based on the results of observations at CV Jogja Konveksi, it was found that there were defects in the product, for this reason a study was conducted which aims to determine the factors that cause defects and proposed improvements that are applied to reduce the number of product defects at CV Jogja Konveksi. This research uses six sigma method with DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) stages. At the define stage there were 3 defects found, namely: uneven screen printing, imprecise screen printing and overflowing screen printing. The highest percentage is found in uneven screen printing at 49% and the lowest is overflowing screen printing at 20%. At the measure stage, 3 CTQ values were obtained, namely flat screen printing results, precise screen printing and neat screen printing. The result of the DPMO value is 8,281.55 with a sigma value of 3.9. This shows that the process capability of the cause of defects in this product is still at the average level of industry in Indonesia, but it needs improvement in the production process of screen printing shirts in order to achieve zero defects. From the results of analyzing using the PDPC diagram, the factors that cause the resulting product defects come from machine factors, environmental factors, work method factors and operator factors. At the improve stage, suggestions/solutions are given to the company, namely making work instructions on the screen machine, screen printing table, process during printing, process of attaching clothes to the screen printing table and ink composition to avoid human error. At the control stage, the actions that can be taken are to create work instructions and provide rewards in the form of bonuses for each production process that does not produce defects.
