ANALYSIS ON FLOOD DISCHARGE RIVER BASIN BATANG MERAO KABUPATEN KERINCI DUE TO CHANGES IN LAND USE

Abstract

Flooding is the inundation on the occurrence of an event as a result of runoff rainwater, it is
caused produced water discharge by rainwater exceeds the capacity of the drainage.
Acceleration of development in a region give consequences to increased land use. With the
rapid pace of development for 10 years ( 2003 - 2012), especially in the area of DAS Batang
Merao, Kabupaten Kerinci, which it’s original land of agricultural areas and field now turns
function into land development community facilities such as housing and other infrastructure.
This would later lead to the occurrence of change of land use so that this change will increase
the flow of water discharge on the surface and the Batang Merao. On this research, calculation
of precipitation from 3 stations note taker rainfall using 3 methods that Gumbel, Hasper, and
Weduwen the result for R10 is 142,561 mm and the calculation of flood discharge-influenced
land use using the Rational method with the results for 2003 flood discharge was 367,159
m3/sec and year 2012 was 452,657 m3/sec. Calculation of flood discharge in 2003 and 2012
occur an increase of 85,49 m3/s, as a debit to occur is greater than the capacity of the required
cross-sectional dimensions of planning with the results for the 2003 cross section dimension
of trapezoid, height 2.3 m, width and 28.5 m and trapezoidal cross section for the year 2012,
height 2.3 m wide and 22 m.
