Abstract

This study aims to design a museum hotel that carries the theme of trains with an infill design architectural approach in Padang Panjang City, West Sumatra Province. The research method used is a literature study to collect information about the history, characteristics, and needs of users relevant to the design of railway museum hotels. In addition, field studies were conducted to observe the physical and social conditions of the environment around the location and conduct interviews with related parties. The infill design architectural approach was chosen to pay attention to aspects of sustainability and efficient use of space. The result of this research is in the form of a museum hotel design that combines modern architectural elements with a thick train theme, such as facades reminiscent of the shape of train stations, exhibition halls of various railway history artifacts, and comfortable and memorable hotel rooms. This research is expected to contribute to the development of tourism and the preservation of railway history in Padang Panjang City, while paying attention to the principles of sustainable architecture.
