Abstract

This study aims to design a public library in Solok Regency that combines traditional Minangkabau architectural elements with contemporary ones to create a functional and aesthetically pleasing space while preserving local cultural heritage. To collect data on community needs, local cultural characteristics, and modern architecture development, a qualitative approach using observation techniques, interviews, and literature studies was used. The study found that public libraries incorporating hybrid architecture can function as social and educational centers that promote literacy and cultural appreciation, contributing to the development of library design that blends traditional values with modern innovation. Additionally, this research can inspire the development of cultural infrastructure in rural areas. Keywords:Public library, Hybrid Architecture, Literacy, Cultural Heritage, Kabupaten Solok
