Abstract

The Padang Pariaman Regency in West Sumatra boasts a strategic geographical location and abundant natural resources, particularly in the agricultural sector, with coconut being one of the leading crops. This crop has the potential to not only provide extensive benefits but also high economic value. To improve the processing industry and develop agro-industries in rural areas, this research identifies opportunities that are expected to have a positive impact on the community's economy. At present, the coconut fruit processing industry in Padang Pariaman Regency is mainly focused on processing the pulp as the primary product, but coconut fibers and shells have great potential and high selling value. To support the economic growth of the community, a container is needed that can accommodate all activities related to the coconut processing process. Qualitative research methods were used in this study, including a literature review to collect data and understand the coconut processing container. Padang Pariaman Regency has the largest coconut plantation area in West Sumatra, which offers the potential to develop export-valued products and improve the economy of the local community. Products produced from coconut fibers and shells include cocofiber, cocopeat, cocopot, briquettes, and bun accessories. The coconut processing industry is expected to be a platform for artisans and communities to interact and learn from each other in taking advantage of local resources in their daily lives. Keywords : Padang Pariaman Regency, coconut, agro-industry.
