Abstract

Museum Adityawarman, a historic institution in Padang City, West Sumatra Province, Indonesia, was established to preserve and showcase the culture and history of Minangkabau and West Sumatra. The museum serves as a center for education and cultural preservation, with the aim of storing, maintaining artifact collections, and enhancing appreciation for local cultural heritage. However, the museum faces challenges such as suboptimal exhibition layout, limited storage and preservation facilities, and the need to improve visitor engagement. To address these challenges, the redesign plan for Museum Adityawarman aims to create a more attractive and functional building design in accordance with national standards. The method used is a qualitative approach with a descriptive approach. This method describes the current condition of Museum Adityawarman, its background, and development issues that do not meet ideal museum standards. It is also used to plan the building redesign to address existing issues and problems. The redesign will employ an expressionist architectural concept, utilizing prominent and dynamic building forms to convey a strong visual message and visual appeal. It will enhance the exhibition layout and interactive spaces to enrich the visitor experience, as well as integrate cultural elements and design innovations to attract more visitors and support the preservation of local culture.
