Abstract

This research is motivated by the cessation of coal mining activities in the city of Sawahlunto, so that many cultural heritage buildings are not maintained. Now, the city government wants to change the function of the city's remaining heritage assets, one of which is the former mining office of PT. Bukit Asam Ombilin Mining Unit into an international standard lodging. This study aims to preserve historical buildings by planning new functions in one interconnected area. A historical approach is used to analyze historical documentation, archives, and other written sources to understand the cultural context of the building. Quantitative methods are used to collect accurate data. The results of this study focus on the revitalization of cultural heritage buildings, adding functions, and facilities to increase the potential of historical buildings and tourism in Sawahlunto.
