PERANCANGAN KANTOR DINAS PERPUSTAKAAN DAN KEARSIPAN DENGAN PENDEKATAN ARSITEKTUR KONTEMPORER DI KABUPATEN DHARMASRAYA

Abstract

This research aims to design a library and archive office in Dharmasraya Regency by utilizing the latest information technology, especially the Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) system. To collect information related to the needs of the community, the character of local culture, and the development of modern architecture, a qualitative approach was used through observation, interviews, and literature studies. The findings of this research show that digital technology can provide convenience for users in finding information. Contemporary architectural design is applied as a solution that fits the local context, by considering material factors, social environment, and user comfort, so that the building can function as a place of education and recreation. Contemporary architecture is expected to create harmony between the building and the surrounding environment. This design will be a useful place for people to read and find information, by following the advancement of science and technology. The characteristic of contemporary architecture can be seen from the use of glass material to maximize natural lighting that dominates the exterior of the building, providing comfort, reducing stress, and increasing user cognition and creativity.
