ABSTRACT
Sedimentation that occrred in Weir Siulak Deras greatly disturb the sustainability of the weir function in
meeting the need for irrigation water discharge, this is due to the inability of O&P in overcoming sedimentation.
Related institution in this case Balai Wilayah Sungai Sumatera VI has tried to overcome the enormous
sedimentation, that is by making Check Dam in front of weir, but with high sedimentation level Check Dam is
not a solution in overcoming the problem. The enormous sedimentation was caused by the change of land use
from the forest to inflammation and the soursce of C. It was also caused by an avalanche of cliffs along the
banks of the Batang Merao River causing the sand and soil material to be carried by the river flow into the
levee. The capacity of weirs of Siulak Deras to flow through an efficient rice field is 9,068 M3/s with the total
area that can be irrigated is 4.369 Ha. Meanwhile according to the results of research carried out the capability
of irigation that can be irrigated at this time is 1,715 M3/s. With an area that can be irrigated 1.063,97 Ha. So
only 22,94 %. This will have an impac on the social, economic community of calculated ris index between the
danger in the case of sedimentation and vulnerability of this matter Agricultural Products and Capacity is the
ability of the Government is handling the sedimentation of these three components, then get the number of risk
index 18,00. Hence pertained High Very High then the action is a thorough Mitigation and contingency planning
should be prepared immediately.
