ABSTRACT

The development of fishery business in Ekor Lubuk district needs to increase the farm income by increasing its production. The aim of this research is to study the development of freshwater fish farming business in Ekor Lubuk district which includes the inventorying process of freshwater fish business, analyzing the farming income and knowing its development strategy. The method that used in this research is descriptive method. The result of the research shows that the fish farming business in Ekor Lubuk district is still using the simple business strategy by using 17.428 M² land area only 37.31% that is used, 43,25% for consumption and 19,03% is not capitalized. The income from 3 freshwater fish business is various which is the growth of catfish farming value Rp. 2.866.944,- per cycle. The higher income is gained from the germination of Oreochromis niloticus which values Rp. 14.660.000,- per year while the lowest income to the growth of Oreochromis niloticus Rp. 1.652.682,- per year. Lastly, based on the SWOT analysis is gained the business development strategy for fish farming in Ekor Lubuk district is potential to develop by using the available potency and opportunity.
