Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to explain the process of developing and product development module based on Project Based Learning (PjBL) method that is valid, practical, and effective in writing short story text for students of class XI IPS SMA Negeri 9 Padang. The theory used is the writing theory put forward by Dalman (2015), short story text theory proposed by Thahar (2014), the learning module proposed by Hamdani (2011), and the Project Based Learning Methodology (PjBL) proposed by Mahsun (2014 ) This type of research is development research. This study uses a 4-D model consisting of 4 stages, namely the defining (difine), design (design), develop, and disseminate stages. However, the deployment phase has not been carried out because this research was carried out in order to complete the study. The module based on the Project Based Learning Method (PjBL) is validated by experts. Practicality of the module is seen through the results of teacher and student responses as well as analysis of the implementation and results of learning using a designed module. The results of this study indicate the following. First, the development process consists of three stages, namely the defining stage that analyzes the curriculum, concepts, and students. At the design stage, the module framework and module framework are designed. Secondly, at the module development stage the results of the expert validation were 85.69 with valid categories. The module's practicality based on the practitioner's response are two, namely; first, the practicality of the teacher is 94.11 with a very practical category. Practicality by students in the first trial was 90.41 with a very practical category, while in the second trial it was 92.46 with a very practical category. Module effectiveness consists of student learning outcomes on pre-tests that have an average of 66.4 with sufficient qualifications, and at post-test of 78 with good qualifications. Student activities which have an achievement of 85.6 with good criteria. Based on the description of the data analysis can be concluded: (a) the module module development process based on Project Based Learning Method (PjBL) consists of three stages, namely define, design, develop, (b) Project Method based modules Based Learning (PjBL) is valid, practical and effective for learning to write short stories because there is an increase in student learning outcomes.
