Abstract

ABSTRACT
Marine and fisheries potential of Padang City is quite large, but fish consumption of the communities are
estimated still low. Fish is beneficial for the development of children's brain cells because fish contain omega
3, vitamins and minerals for intelligence and health, its better to consuming fish since pregnancy periode and
toddlers especially those aged 3-5 years who are already active consumers. Lower fish consumption of
toddler could make nutritional problems such as stunting, wasting, overweight caused by several factors,
including; knowledge of nutrition, education, income, age, number of family members, tastes and culture.
This study aims to analyze the consumption patterns of fish based on frequency and comparative analysis of
toddler fish consumption in fishermen and non-fishermen households in Pasia Nan Tigo Koto Tangah
Padang. The research method using survey method. Population in this study were all toddlers aged 3 to 5
years in fishermen and non-fisherman households spread across 13 posyandu with 383 toddlers. Sample size
is 30% of the population and taken by a simple random method. Data collection by interview (questionnaire),
observation and documentation then fish consumption data calculated using susenas formula and was
analyzed descriptively. The results of the study on the pattern of toddler fish consumption based on
frequency in fishing households 6-7 times week while in non-fisherman households 4-5 times/week. Toddler
fish consumption fishing households in fresh whole fish is 43.3 kg /cap/year, in the part of edible fish (BDD)
which is 29 kg/cap/year, in toddlers in non-fishery households consumption of fresh whole fish is 28,
91kg/cap/year and BBD is 21.38 kg/cap/year. The level of fish consumption in toddlers in fishermen and
non-fishermen households has met the USDA recommendations, Permenkes and the achievement of people
fish consumption in Padang City
