To the develop tourism in an area properly is very necessary participation and involvement of the
community in its management. The purpose of this study is to determine the factors that influence
community participation. This research was carried out in Mapaddegat Hamlet, Pejat Village, Mentawai
Islands Regency. Performed in April-May 2019. Retrieval of data using questionnaires. Data analysis
methods to determine public opinion about the factors that influence community participation in tourism
activities using Multiple Regression Analysis. The results showed that the factors influencing community
participation in Mapaddegat tourism activities in the Tuapejat Village of Mentawai Islands Regency were
internal factors (age, level of education, length of stay, income, and type of work) that were 72.7%, while
27.3% were influenced by other factors not included in the regression model.
