Abstract

Abstract
Ecotourism is a form of nature-based tourism which also take into consideration of environmental
sustainability. Tourists are prohibited from any disturbing conduct to the surrounding environment whilst carrying
out the tour, therefore it supports nature conservation. Turtle is amongst the important bio-indicators for the health
of marine ecosystems and coastal areas. Development of sea turtle tourism is based on ecotourism principle in
public services perspective in Nagari Ampiang Parak, Sutera District, Pesisir Selatan Regency. This research was
conducted for 3 (three) months from May - July 2019. The purpose of this study is to analyze the Regional
Conformity Index (IKW), the Feasibility of Sea Turtle Conservation Areas (KKKP) and the Regional Carrying
Capacity (DDK). The method used was field survey and interviews. Data analysis was done with quantitative
descriptive method. The results of the study indicates the index of IKW is; 86.84, meaning it is very suitable to be
developed as a turtle recreation area, the KKKP value is; 72.15%, which means the area also feasible for turtle
conservation. While the DDK value of turtle conservation for the ecotourism category is; 532 person/day/ha with
time allocation of 15 minutes/person.
