Abstract

ABSTRACT
The Sanimas program can be successfully if the community plays an active role
at all stages that must be passed, especially in the supervision and maintenance
of the facilities. This is due to the fact that the community tends to assume that
the supervision and maintenance of these facilities is the responsibility of the
government as a result, many sanitation facilities and facilities that have been
built by the government through empowering community people are redundant,
not managed, not utilized and not well maintained. Therefore the research on
"Community Participation Level in Using the Community Sanitation Project
through the Sanimas Program in Sipora Selatan Sub-District of Mentawai
Islands" This study aims to find out what are the factors in the implementation
of the Sanimas program in the Mentawai Islands district so that the low interest
of the community in its users, Knowing the Implementation of the Sanitation
Project in the Sanimas Program is in accordance with the Regional MediumTerm Development Plan (RPJMD). The Research Methodology conducted was
Qualitative by conducting interviews with informants who were considered to
understand and know the implementation of the program and involved
community leaders around the construction site. It was found that the level of
community participation in the use of the facility after it was built was low, this
was due to site conditions that were not accessible to all communities, there is
no maintenance or management for sustainability and the program tends to be
considered a project by the community and many people expect the
development to be carried out individually so that the target community can
maintain it properly because the facility is obtained by each family.
