ABSTRAK
In the implementation of road and bridge projects in South Solok Regency, the role
of a project supervisor is a factor that can influence project performance. The large number
of road and bridge projects each year in South Solok Regency cannot be matched by
productivity and the number of supervisors from the South Solok Regency Public Works
Office, so that the conditions that occur are the number of field supervisors far less than the
supervised projects, so this has an impact on productivity supervisor itself, especially from
the aspects of quality performance and project administration. With the conditions occurring
in the field, through this research, we will find out the factors that cause the low productivity
of field supervisors from the Public Works Department of South Solok Regency and how the
strategies are needed to increase the productivity of field supervisors. Through the analysis
of the data obtained that the dominant factors that can affect the productivity of field
supervisors from the Public Works Department of South Solok Regency are the field and
work environment factors, human resource factors, needs factors and communication factors.
The strategy adopted to improve performance is to increase the number of field supervisors
and place field supervisors in accordance with their area of expertise, place field supervisors
more experienced in projects that have a higher level of difficulty and provide additional
salaries, benefits, incentives and facilities that can support activities project supervision.
