Pengaruh Kepuasan Kerja dan Karakteristik Pekerjaan terhadap Turnover Intention dengan Komitmen Organisasi sebagai Variabel Intervening pada SLB

Abstract

Educatinal sector plays important role in national and regional development including extraordinary education. One of regions that has attention on extraordinary education is Padang city. The success of educational management extremely depends on teacher role. Therefore, every education management either conducted by government nor private sector must be able to manage teachers as well as possible in order to decrease turnover intentions. Among variables that can explain turnover intentions is organizational commitment, furthermore organizational commitment is effected by job satisfaction and job characteristics. The purpose of this research is to investigate the intervening role of organizational commitmen on the relationship between job satisfaction, job characteristics and turnover intentions. The research population is all part-time teachers involved at extraordinary school in Padang city and number of respondents is accounted for 132 persons. This research was performed proportional cluster sampling. In order to test hypotheses development, this research performs multiple, single and hierarchical regression analyses by using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 16.0. The results of analysis show that 1) job satisfaction and job characteristics negatively and significantly influence turnover intentions. 2) job satisfaction and job characteristics positively and significantly influence organizational commitment. 3) organizational commitment was found to have negative and significant effect on turnover intentions. 4) organizational commitment plays as intervening variable on the relationship between job satisfaction, job characteristics and turnover intentions. The findings of this study provide practical contribution and recommendation to enhancing organizational commitment, job satisfaction and job characteristics.
