PENGARUH JOB CHARACTERISTICS DAN KEPUASAN KERJA TERHADAP KINERJA PEGAWAI DENGAN KOMITMEN ORGANISASI SEBAGAI VARIABEL MEDIASI PADA DINAS KESEHATAN KABUPATEN KERINCI

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the mediator effect of organizational
commitment on the relationship between job characteristics, job satisfaction and
empolyee performance. The research population is all employees who involve at
Health Office of Kerinci Regency that accounted for 119 employees. This study used
all entire population as respondents. In order to test hypotheses, this study performs
mutiple, simple and hierarchical regression analyses. The results of analysis found
that a) Job characteristics positively and significantly influences organizational
commitment. b) Job satisfaction does not significantly influence organizational
commitment. c) Job characteristics and job satisfaction positively and significantly
influence employee performance. d) Organizational commitment positively and
significantly influences employee performance. e) Organizational commitment plays
as full mediator on the relationship between job characteristics and employee
performance. However, organizational commitment does not play as mediator on the
relationship between job satisfaction and employee performance. The research
findings provide practical contribution that in order to enhancing empolyee
performace future, it is suggested to decrease organizational commitment throuh
increasing job charactreistics.
