THE STRUCTURE OF MACROZOOBENTHOS COMMUNITY IN MANINJAU LAKE OF AGAM REGENCY OF WEST SUMATRA PROVINCE

Abstract

Makrozoobenthos have a role as food chain in water ecosystem and can be used as indicator animal
in studying water environment condition. The purpose of this study is to analyze the structure of
macrozoobenthos that include variety index, homogeneous index, and domination index in
Maninjau Lake and to analyze the water quality associated with macrozoobenthos in Maninjau
Lake. The method that used to identify macrozoobenthos is laboratory experiment, while to identify
the water quality is through STORET method analysis. The collected data are a primary and
secondary data. The results of the study have found four type of macrozoobenthos classified into
three Families and three Classes that are Corbicula moltkiana, Anadonta sp, Melanoides granifera
and Melanoides tuberculata. The variety index is low that is H’<1, the homogeneous index tend be
equal and there have not a dominant species, where domination index is low. Based on the
STORET analysis, the Maninjau Lake is heavily polluted.
