Abstract

Heat Exchanger is a kind of device used to exchange heat between two fluids that are at different temperature and separated by a solid wall. Applications of the heat exchanger may be found in space heating and air-conditioning, power production, waste heat recovery, and chemical processing.  One of heat exchanger developments is adding fins to surface exposed to either or both fluids.  Many different fins have been developed dealing with its configuration, profile, size and surface area. Therefore, it is needed experimental investigation to evaluate adding circular and rectangular fin on cross flow heat exchanger. Because of a configuration difference, results of research show that heat transfer for circular fin heat exchanger can increase compared to rectangular heat exchanger with identical surface area total.  From the research have been done in some mass flow rates of fluid, the difference of circular fin heat transfer with rectangular fin is about 12,6 Watt. And pressure drop increases in 4,1 Pa if it is compared with rectangular fin heat exchanger.
