Abstract

The high price of synthetic fiber, which is use as fiber reinforcement on fiberglass products, makes its products price become expensive. One of alternative to reduce fiberglass products price is by replaces fiber synthetic with other fiber, which is having similar mechanical properties but cheaper and still not abandon regional potency.Coconut fibers are regional potency that still not used optimally moreover they often considered as waste that doesn’t have economic values. The coconut fiber that used as replace fiber synthetic This research use experimental method with control variable are percentage of coconut fiber and polyester resin by planar orientation, continuous fiber. The reseach result shows that the optimum composition is on 40% fiber: 60% resin polyester, with value of tensile strengt is 20,75 Mpa and value of strain is 7 %.
