PERCEPTION OF HEALTH PERSONNEL TO PRENATAL DIAGNOSIS AS AN EARLY DETECTION OF PRENATAL HEALTH

Abstrak

The mortality rate of newborns is increasing every year, WHO data shows one of the causes is a
congenital abnormality. In Indonesia, infant mortality due to congenital abnormalities is 1.4% at age
0-6 days and 18.1% at age 7-28 days. Prevention efforts that can be done is to check prenatal diagnosis.
Prenatal diagnosis is a method for assessing whether a fetus has an abnormality, used to detect early
abnormalities in the fetus. The ethical and legal aspects of prenatal diagnosis protect the rights of
patients as recipients of diagnostic measures and protect health workers as providers of actions. This
research is a sociological juridical research. The study was conducted at RSUD dr. Achmad Darwis,
with 50 respondents who are health workers. Data sources in this study are primary data using
questionnaires filled out by respondents and secondary data through previous research sources or
journal literature. The collected data will be processed to get results. The results of the study are
perceptions of prenatal diagnosis as early detection of prenatal health in which 29 respondents had
very positive perceptions (58%). It can be concluded that the examination of prenatal diagnosis can be
a method of early detection of prenatal health to prevent prenatal mortality and disability rates.
